A planning and continuous assessment meeting took place at the Alexandria Hotel located in the heart of the city of Kumba on Thursday the 26th day of May 2016. The meeting which began at 4pm was chaired by GERAS’ CEO and attended by seven teachers from six schools currently benefiting from GERAS’ project Climate Change workshop for young people. During the meeting, the Climate Justice Ambassadors’ Certificates of Achievement were officially handed to the different school authorities through the teachers represented. Discussions were centered on the evaluation of the climate change workshop, the holiday’s tree planting event which was proposed to at least have an impact at homes, schools and the community at large. Discussions continued on the prize award during the end of year in each school, and the need for online presence of the environmental clubs through emails and social networks especially Facebook. Discussions were also centered on the possibility of organizing a computer literacy workshop to enhance networking between the stakeholders working to ensure the success of the environmental projects in schools. The meeting ended at 6:30pm.
Teachers act as a links between GERAS and the different schools and their assigned tasks and rich ideas based on their experiences working with young people contribute greatly to the success of each stage of the project and the overall project results.
